Why this blog?

A few months ago my friend posted an article on Facebook related to the current debate surrounding the issue of gay marriage.  It was a good article and I wanted to join in the conversation. But as I read through the comments on her post, I felt that a comment on Facebook wasn't enough room for the response that I wanted to share.  So here I am.

I've hesitated these few months because I really wanted to engage in the online discussion by hearing from others via comments.  For now I am leaving comments off to ensure that this blog does not distract me unduly from my most important responsibilities as a wife and mother.

So, why do I feel impelled to speak up?

Because, over the last decade I've been watching closely the gradual shift going on in the world regarding marriage.  This debate is changing the world.  It affects everyone, especially our children.

I've listened closely to people on both sides and am continually studying the issue and its implications. My greatest hope would be that I might help some person, somewhere, who is struggling to sort it all out in their own mind & heart.

But even if this is never read by any person other than my own family, then at least my children, and someday my grandchildren, will know without a doubt that their mother was not afraid to stand up for truth even if it is unpopular.  And that is enough to make it worth the time.
